Making Movie Memories
1983. I was in second/third grade and to celebrate the small portion of my childhood, USA Weekend has come out with a list celebrating ‘classic’ movies released that partcular year.
Really?
Now to also put this in perspective, Madonna also released her first single that same year too.
Here now I’ll list movies you thought were the coolest things EVER when they were first released in theatres:
Scarface
The Big Chill
Trading Places - which I never really liked by the way
National Lampoon’s Vacation - which I still watch every time it comes on cable
Risky Business
Flashdance
The story’s writer, Jay Dyckman also mentions other debuts in 1983: the McNugget (I still think the little puppet ones were so cute to watch), Swatch Watchs were the thing to own (still have mine and yes I wore the multiple ones on my wrist), and Vanessa Williams won Miss America (I wonder how many pop-cultured obsessed young adults know this).
Nice to know that most of these things are still with us. But do we need to go down memory lane again?

How can you not like “Trading Places”? Now there is a movie I don’t miss on cable rerun.
