She’s With Elvis Now….

Karen Marie (Medcraft)STOCKWELL Karen Marie Stockwell our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend passed away November 24, 2008 at Renown Medical Center. Karen was born October 30, 1945 in Ogden, UT. She was the daughter of Donald J. and Violet L. Medcraft. Shortly after Karen’s birth, her family moved to Sparks, NV. Karen attended Sparks Elementary, Middle, and graduated from Sparks High School. She was on the Sparks Railroader Drill Team her junior and senior years. She married the true love of her life Daniel H. Stockwell. At the age of 21, she gave birth to her only daughter Susan Stockwell Mckinnish. Karen was a devoted stay at home mother for most of Susan’s life. In 1980 Karen and Dan moved to their dream home in Truckee, CA. Their daughter Susan married David Mckinnish. Karen then decided to open a daycare in her home and called it Karen’s playmates. For 17 years she cared for more than 200 children. She was recognized as one of the best day care centers in Truckee. For as much care and love she gave the children, she received more love from them. Karen decided to retire in April of 2007. From retirement to the day she passed away the children would still call and visit her. It was a well known fact that Karen loved Elvis. In the early 1990’s she visited Graceland with her sister, Carol and daughter, Susan. Her Elvis collection was her pride and joy. Karen had a great love for Elvis, but her true love was for all the dogs she has had in her life. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Daniel H. Stockwell, Truckee, CA; her only daughter, Susan M. Stockwell (David) McKinnish, Carson City, NV; beloved sister, Carol A. Krupp, Carson City, NV; brother, John C. Medcraft (Voni), Reno, NV; cousin, Melanie Montierth, Ogden, UT; sister-in-law, Darnley and Lloyd Kirschner and their children; brother-in-law, Donald and Jolene Stockwell and their daughter, Kellene Stockwell; nephews, Larry Krupp, wife Carrie, children, Kendra and Logan, Gary Krupp, wife, Jill, children, Taylor and Haylee. Karen has had a very dear friend, Paul Bennett of Truckee, CA. He has been close to Karen and Dan for over 26 years and became a special part of their lives. A celebration of life will be held for Karen at a later date in Truckee. The celebration will be listed in the paper one week prior or please call Susan for information. 775-884- 4530.
