You can’t deny it – our landscape is rapidly changing thanks to the rough economy.
I really started to notice it last weekend when I visited my parents in Sparks.
While tooling around the valley, I kept a mental tally of closed stores.
- Gottschalk’s
- Silver Club Casino
- TGIF
- Northgate Golf Course
- Circuit City – almost there
- Both Mervyn’s
- Both Shoe Pavilions
- Denny’s in Spanish Springs and South Meadows
- And a few more I can’t think of right now…..
Butcher Boy has even filed for bankruptcy.
But while some things are shutting down or are already vacant, other projects are moving right along like the Triple A baseball stadium in downtown or the new shopping center at the corner of Longley and McCarran.
Either way our local landscape is going to drastically change over the next few months/years. So get ready.
