How You Can Help Japan’s Quake/Tsunami Victims

 

AT&T is offering free international calling and texting from the United States to Japan through March 31st. Landline customers get 60 minutes free of direct calling to Japan but have to call AT&T to receive the credit.

You can help with relief efforts in Japan. Just text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donations to the American Red Cross can be allocated for the International Disaster Relief Fund, which then deploys to the region to help.

The Salvation Army has been providing food and shelter to Tokyo commuters who were stranded when public transportation was interrupted by the earthquake. Text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 to make a $10 donation. Donations can also be made on the organization’s Web site or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.

To make a donation to Save the Children, call 1-800-728-3843, or text JAPAN to 20222 to donate $10.

Shelterbox.org is a disaster-relief organization that focuses on providing survival materials such as tents and cooking equipment to families displaced by disasters.

Customers can give to Japan disaster relief during their stop at the grocery store, and know that 100% of their donations will go directly to the American Red Cross to help the devastated area.  

Raley’s is designating all donations to checkstand collection boxes in its 133 Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores to Japan disaster relief through April 18.  

Raley’s will absorb all administrative costs to ensure that all donations reach the victims of the devastation in Japan.
